Moesgaard Museum

The journey starts at the fantastic Moesgaard Museum in Højbjerg south of Aarhus, where the whole family can get up close to both past and present people through staged and dramatized stories. You can delve into human life as it was lived in the Iron Age, Viking Age, and Middle Ages.

The exhibitions are based on the latest research and technology with the aim of making you wiser about humanity in an entertaining and surprising way. After visiting the unique exhibitions, you can explore the surrounding scenic surroundings of forest and water or enjoy the museum's architecture over a tasty meal in the museum café.

ARoS

Next, head to the center of Aarhus and visit one of Northern Europe's largest art museums, ARoS Museum, which spans 10 floors. At the top of ARoS, you can experience the impressive rainbow installation "Your rainbow panorama," which offers a spectacular 360-degree view of Aarhus.

At the museum, you can explore world-class art ranging from the Danish Golden Age to Danish modernism and international contemporary art. You can visit the museum's large autumn exhibition "A Surreal Schock – Masterpieces from Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen," which provides a fantastic insight into the surrealist movement. You can also explore the museum's diverse program, which offers exciting activities and talks for everyone.

The Old Town (Den Gamle By)

Take a family trip back in time at The Old Town - a unique attraction in Aarhus. Here, you can get a fantastic insight into the history of Danish market towns. Explore the area on a lovely walk and become a living part of Danish history when you meet people dressed, working, and behaving as they did in days gone by.

They cook, chop wood, do handicrafts, or serve customers in the shop. You can also take a horse-drawn carriage ride or make a good deal in the historic shops. During the autumn holidays, you can participate in All Saints' Day, where spookiness spreads through The Old Town's cobblestone streets.

Mols Bjerge National Park

After your visit to the city, head towards magnificent nature experiences in Mols Bjerge National Park in southern Djursland. Mols Bjerge National Park offers fantastic and varied nature consisting of a large part of Denmark's natural types, but also some of Denmark's rarest nature. Mols Bjerge's hallmark is the extraordinary Ice Age landscape where people have lived for millennia.

In Mols Bjerge National Park, you can explore a myriad of exciting activities with the whole family. You can go on wilderness brunches, hikes focusing on Vikings, culture, and mountains, become hunters for a day, and much more. Randers Rainforest

At the next stop in Randers Rainforest, you'll embark on a jungle adventure. Here, you'll encounter rushing waterfalls, warm and humid air, mythical temple ruins from a bygone era, and a fantastic variety of wildlife. Look forward to getting up close to the animals as you wander through the tropical rainforest. In lush, green surroundings, you can experience everything from small, busy leaf-cutter ants to large, majestic jaguars.

You can also participate when Randers Rainforest offers exciting activities, feedings, animal presentations, and much more. Randers Rainforest is a living ecosystem, and there's always something new happening for both children and adults.

Himmelbjerg Tower

Next, the car trip continues to Himmelbjerget, where you can visit Himmelbjerg Tower at the top of the hill, offering one of Denmark's most beautiful destinations. From the foot of Ry, you can embark on a hike through heathlands and impressive forests with beautiful trees and lakes.

When you finally reach the top and encounter the 25-meter-high Himmelbjerg Tower, erected in 1875 in memory of Frederik 7, you'll be greeted with a magnificent view of an open terrain with hills, lakes, forests, and heathland. Pack a picnic and enjoy it at the top.

Museum Jorn

At your final stop on the route, you can look forward to satisfying your artistic pleasures when you visit Museum Jorn in Silkeborg. The museum has experimental art as its starting point, based on Asger Jorn's visionary view of art and the world. The museum is for all ages and invites you to cool activities that explore art and creativity through play and reflection.

Look forward to delightful guided tours or visit the pottery workshop and explore your creative abilities. Explore their current exhibition "JORNS VERDEN," presenting artist Asger Jorn. Here, you can see drawings, graphics, paintings, ceramics, sculptures, and weavings. After a tour of the museum's fantastic exhibitions, you can look forward to ending the day with a delightful meal in the museum café, Café Cobra.
