In 2009, the couple Camilla and Mads moved from Gentofte to Bornholm, where they started Denmark's first organic sea buckthorn plantation, Høstet, which today has expanded to about 3,500 bushes. They harvest the sea buckthorn themselves, clip branches, freeze, knock off berries and leaves, sort berries, and produce in their own production kitchen at Fløjlegård in Ibsker, where they also make over 20 different sea buckthorn products such as jams, juices, teas, and skincare products.
In addition to learning about sea buckthorn and visiting the plantation and shop, Høstet hosts a "Drinks in the Countryside" event every Friday until mid-August. Here you get a great introduction to sea buckthorn and the plantation, and delicious drinks are made with sea buckthorn, including non-alcoholic versions for those driving.
