Start the journey by heading south to the ARKEN Museum of Modern Art. ARKEN Museum is beautifully situated in the man-made landscape, Køge Bay Beach Park. At ARKEN, you can explore one of Scandinavia's finest collections of contemporary art and the museum's maritime architecture, which protrudes from the terrain around the building. When hunger strikes, you can enjoy a quality meal or a cup of coffee in the museum café, which offers a beautiful sea view.
Location: Skovvej 100, 2635 Ishøj
The journey then continues further south to Køge Museum, where experiences await for the whole family or to the KØS Museum for Art in Public Space, which exhibits, produces, and communicates art projects by national and international artists.
Køge Museum is centrally located in Køge city in the old merchant's house from 1619. In the museum's exhibitions, you can look forward to taking a journey through Køge's history. From the mighty Viking Age to the hunter-gatherer people in the Stone Age.
At the KØS Museum, you can go on a visual journey through Danish history, as the visual artist Bjørn Nørgaard depicts in colorful and eye-catching 1:1 sketches for the Queen's tapestries in their current exhibition "Bjørn Nørgaard's cartoons for the Queen's tapestries."
Locations: Nørregade 4, 4600 Køge & Nørregade 29, 4600 Køge
When you feel saturated with historical and modern art, you take the car further to one of Denmark's oldest and best-preserved Renaissance castles, Gisselfeld Monastery, which is beautifully surrounded by the monastery's magnificent and beautiful landscape garden. Here you can explore the beautiful park and nature, visit the enchanting orangery, Paradehuset, which sells historical plants, pots, and garden articles, and enjoy a quiet moment in the tea salon "Nattergalen". Gisselfeld offers a wealth of experiences - during the autumn holidays, there is a treasure hunt for the whole family, and in November, you can look forward to Denmark's coziest Christmas market.
Location: Gisselfeldvej 3, 5, 4690 Haslev
The journey then continues further south to Stevns, where you can visit Klippingegård Farm Shop. Here, delicious quality vegetables are grown to support the local community. Move on to a unique and sensory experience that gives you butterflies in your stomach. In the middle of Gisselfeld Monastery's Forest, you start your tour at the old water mill, where you embark on a walk that winds adventurously through the forest and trees until the 45-meter-high Forest Tower suddenly appears. Here, you go through 12 circles towards the top, where along the way you see the forest in entirely new perspectives, and at the end, you step out onto the viewing platform. Here awaits you the most beautiful view over the South Zealand landscape.
Location: Skovtårnsvej 1, 4683 Rønnede
The drive then goes to yet another unique nature experience. Further south, you'll find Stevns Cliff, which is part of UNESCO's World Heritage - a truly unique place on Earth.
