In Roskilde, near Sankt Hans Hospital, you'll find Sankt Hans Have and their café and nursery. When you visit the café, you can dine in the small, cozy greenhouse among figs, peaches, almonds, passion fruits, wine, and herbs. In the kitchen, they celebrate good, local, or homegrown ingredients and do everything to avoid food waste.
Sankt Hans Have is actually a project designed to breathe new life into an area with a special history, driven by a predominantly volunteer group. It is also a recreational garden and a social-economic enterprise created to promote mental health through nature, culture, and inclusive communities. The volunteer group consists of 50% resourceful citizens of Roskilde, who contribute to providing positive experiences in sometimes challenging everyday life for the remaining volunteers, who are in some form of vulnerable life situation.
