Middle of Nowhere ITE Art Park will open its new exhibition ‘Middle ITE vol2’ in summer 2025. The exhibition is stunningly large and full of surprises. It will feature 29 self-taught artists and nearly 100 works and installations. The original and inventive works are made of wood, stone, metal and various recycled materials.
The exhibition is set in the ruins of a former commercial garden, the surrounding forest and a small main building. A 600-metre-long route around the outside takes visitors through a variety of environments where art and nature intertwine in surprising ways. Inside, works by 2025 ITE Artist of the Year Markku Sarastamo are on display.

Middle of Nowhere Art Park is located in the idyllic village of Kaukaste in Hyvinkää. The park was founded by childhood friends Pertti Riikonen and Teijo Monni, who wanted to do something different together and were inspired by ITE art. In 2022, they bought an old abandoned commercial garden property and started to build an art park using recycled materials.
The park opened to the public for the first time in the summer of 2024, with more than 5,000 visitors. In the same year, the Middle of Nowhere Art Park was awarded the Hyvinkää Art Prize in recognition of its outstanding artistic achievement. ‘Middle ITE vol2’ is not just an art exhibition - it is an adventure for the whole family. You are welcome to experience, marvel and be inspired!
The exhibition is open from 25.6.-7.9.2025 from Wednesday to Sunday.
📍 Tip! The Middle of Nowhere Art Park (Koskenmaantie 187, 05510 Hyvinkää) is easily accessible by a GoMore car, so grab a ride and head for an art experience in the middle of nature!

What is ITE art?
ITE art (comes from the Finnish words Itse Tehty Elämä, eng.Self Made Life) is original art created by self-taught artists, often challenging the traditional art world. It is born out of the passion, ingenuity and life experience of its creators, often using recycled materials and commenting on everyday life around them. ITE art can be sculptures, structures, paintings or installations. It is wild, free and full of personality.
